Mod Podge Desk Drawers

Remember the furniture I had painted a couple of months ago? Well, I had one last piece left. And this is what it looked like. Right.desk-before

This time around, I felt like I was ready for more than a few coats of paint. So I got a little creative with some Mod Podge and scrapbook paper.

After I finished painting the drawers, I could hardly wait for them to dry to apply the paper. I didn’t even stop to think of how exactly I planned on cutting said paper to size. I had no x-acto knife, tracing paper, or really anything to help me transfer the shape of the drawers to the paper. So, I did what any resourceful person would do and did a quick Pinterest search. And stumbled upon this brilliant idea.

Well, this was easier than I thought it would be. Apply paper to drawer with Mod Podge, allow to dry, and then sand the edges to break down the paper. Then, you just fold and tear as you go around.

After tearing off the excess paper, add another layer of Mod Podge and let dry. I love how sanding the edges makes the paper look like it’s kind of worn into the wood. Gives it character, no? I spray painted the hardware white and added a glossy top coat.

I really love the way it came out and can’t wait to put it to some use!

I’m hoping to find a mirror that will allow me to use it as a vanity. I can totally transport my makeup to the drawers to free up some space in the bathroom.

The corresponding chair and my first ever upholstery attempt is next! Stay tuned!
