Iceland, Continued

Hello friends and happy Monday! Undoubtedly, you’ve all been eagerly awaiting some additional photos from our recent trip. If you’re just joining us, you can see parts one and two here!

After the the popular Golden Circle route seen in the previous post, we continued to travel along the south coast. As you can imagine, the rest of our journey included plenty of waterfalls..

And then, when you think you’ve probably seen enough waterfalls to last a lifetime. And you decide to put your camera down, because you really don’t need ANOTHER waterfall photo. That’s exactly when you’ll see something that makes you almost want to pinch yourself.

So, if I can offer a small tip..do not put your camera down in Iceland. It’s almost like the country is challenging you not to be amazed. So, you’ve seen enough waterfalls? How about one with a perfect rainbow?

I’ll tell you one thing, no shortage of waterfalls in this country. Svartifoss was probably my favorite of the waterfalls. It was a smaller, calm waterfall a short hike into Skaftafell national park.

Also along the south coast, there’s a black volcanic beach. I know I usually use the term ‘breathtaking’ loosely, but there were several times throughout the trip where I literally had to catch my breath. And this was one of them.

I mean, is this for real? I know I mentioned this in a previous post, but I absolutely loved this place! It makes you feel like you might be in a black and white photo.

And then, when you think you’ve seen it all – you’re no longer wowed by waterfalls, taken aback by lava rocks, used to seeing wild horses roam the countryside..

You happen to drive up to this (where I might add, several movies have been filmed – including Batman Begins, Die Another Day, and Tomb Raider).

One of the most incredible parts of the journey is that you would think that you would have to travel thousands of miles to see such a variety in landscapes, but Iceland is really quite compact. And the fact that you’re snapping photos and trying to pronounce upcoming attractions throughout the drive makes it quite pleasant.

I hope you enjoyed following along with us on our journey through South Iceland! We’re currently in the process of planning our next adventure, and are thinking along the same lines of road trip through Europe. Destination and/or tour suggestions are more than welcome!

Wow! Lusine hokis, this is wonderful photography! specially the one with the fall and the rainbow! The vertical rock formations! Last year we were in Armenia, and went to Garni, in the valley of Garni, the same rock formations the vertical ones, I still have so much photos of the rocks on my iPhone, I do not want to erase them.! Thanks for sharing, and being part of your journey! take care and keep the good work! Love, Sossy

Thank you Sossy, that means so much! It was an amazing sight! I’ve heard of the rock formations at Garni and hope to see them next time I’m in Armenia. As far as your iPhone photos, I wouldn’t delete them either! I have the Shutterfly app (free!) which lets you order prints directly from your camera roll on your iPhone 🙂

Hi Lusine, this is marvelous really! Yes I installed the app. I have a few photos printed already, at the camera shop, not through shutterfly.
I am interested to open a blog too, and I was wondering how to start it. Do you pay monthly fees or what? and how do you install all the photos every time on the blog page. Can you give me some guidelines? Can I post paintings and ceramic pieces that I have painted? Sorry, I am still ignorant of these, and need some enlightenment! Sorry to bother you, take care, Sossy

I would be happy to help if I can :)! There are multiple blogging platforms out there..blogger and wordpress.com are free. Mine is self hosted, I use wordpress.org and pay for a hosting service monthly (approximately $7 a month)..the self hosting I think gives you more creative control. You can upload photos to the blog using whatever platform you decide on, they are for the most part user friendly!

I see, that is good to know, in my case, if I post photos of paintings or painted ceramic pieces, can you sell them on the blog? or you have to pay on each piece you sell? I will go and investigate, and see the terms. Yes I would like to be more flexible and be able to make the layout myself. Thanks a lot hokis, I do appreciate it greatly. take care, Sossy

I think you can list items for sale on a blog…I’ve seen plug ins that allow you to, but I haven’t really looked into them myself. If you’re looking to list items for sale, I would also look into Etsy, it’s a website where you can buy/sell handmade and vintage items. Hope this helps 🙂

Yes, Etsy was suggested by my cousin, thank you hokis for bothering you, I will study all and see which ones are best for my case. Anyway you are doing great, very efficient, clean and very creative items. Keep the good work, and take care, all the best, love, Sossy
