Mini Gallery Wall

So, remember those lace decoupage frames I posted a few months ago? They were originally intended to be part of our recent bathroom makeover. The bathroom makeover has long been complete, and somehow (can I still blame the holidays?) I completely forgot to hang them up! I just happened to see them last weekend while cleaning up our spare bedroom/craft studio.

So, at first I was planning on ordering some prints from Etsy or elsewhere..but then I figured I’d save myself a couple of bucks and use my own photographs! Since these were still going to be hung in our bathroom, I wanted to keep the subject matter somewhat..neutral. I don’t know, if I walked into someone’s bathroom and  they had pictures of themselves hanging up, I’d be a bit weirded out. Considering the lace, I knew I wanted something feminine and pretty so it seemed like a good opportunity to use a few of my many flower photos!

You may recognize a couple of these from previous blog posts (and old headers). I used Pixlr to give them a little bit of a vintage effect. I love the large array of filters (think Instagram on steroids) included in Pixlr Express. They also have a super convenient Chrome extension that that you can include in your apps!

After reading through this comprehensive article about the best ways to arrange pictures, I used a few of Corey’s helpful tips to hang my frames. I used inserts that were included in the frames instead of newspaper, but since these are slightly smaller than the frames it may not work if you have a very precise look you are trying to achieve.

I know that this isn’t much of a DIY (although, I did do it myself), but since this is the first time I’ve been able to achieve a semi-aligned gallery wall, I thought the tips were worth sharing. Oh, and I used a stencil leveler to align the photo inserts on the wall, which I didn’t know I had. Yet another pleasant surprise that came out of cleaning my spare bedroom/craft studio!

What do you guys think? Should I add a few more frames? I’m trying to decide if three looks somewhat sparse.
