With the Christmas season coming to an end, my mind is starting to shift towards the new year and the resolutions that often come along with it. I don’t know about you, but getting organized is always a big one for me. That being said, I usually start strong and end up actually sticking with about twenty percent of what I intended to do. Nothing wrong with gradually improving over time.
Jewelry has consistently proven to be a problem area for me and often ends up a tangled heap on top of the dresser. So, a while ago I made over a little jewelry tray that helps it stay somewhat contained, but my earrings still end up getting lost under all the necklaces, bangles, and whatever else I happen to throw in. I’ve been seeing these adorable picture frame earring holders all over Pinterest so I decided to give it a try.
I started with a regular old picture frame from, you guessed it, the dollar store!
I also had some of the same scrapbook paper I used for the tray and some lace trim on hand. This was so easy it doesn’t even warrant a full on tutorial. I spray painted the frame with a couple coats of glossy white spray paint and cut the scrapbook paper to fit the frame.
Then, I cut up a couple of strips of lace trim a little larger than the frame and laid them across the empty frame. Stuck the glass back in, followed by the scrapbook paper and cardboard. I closed the little clamps on the back to see how it looked, adjusted the lace strips until they looked about evenly spaced and glued them in the back using a hot glue gun and trimmed off the excess.
Easy as that! The glass is totally optional too, so this would be perfect if you have a broken frame you’re looking to recycle!
I think it complements my jewelry tray quite nicely, don’t you think? My bedroom is mostly shades of pale blues and greens, and I love the contrast of the pink! I try to add pink flowers as often as possible, but truthfully, keeping a vase of fresh flowers in your bedroom year round gets a bit costly.
I also added this adorable little tray from the dollar section at Target made over using some white pray paint and a gold sharpie (I got the idea here!). Hopefully it should prevent me from dumping headbands, sunglasses, and other things into the jewelry tray.
I’d love to hear what you think! Any tips for organizing a big mess of jewelry?
This is such a great DIY! I’m always looking for new ways to organize jewelry and I love how you can show off pretty earrings. The matching tray is lovely too, must try this! Stopping by from SITS : )

Thanks Karen! I added more after posting this and think they all look so pretty hanging there AND since they’re all on display you have your options clearly laid out. It was probably one of the easiest DIY’s ever too, I wish I had enough earrings to warrant making a second one. Thank you so much for stopping by! π
This is exactly what I want to do and what I have been looking for. The BEST instructions and easiest method I have found. Thank you.
I’m so thrilled to hear that, Gene! Thank you so much! Do let me know how it works out for you π
Hi Lusine, stopping by from the SITSgirls Sharefest. This is so pretty, I love how you used the lace. Great idea, thanks for sharing and Happy New Year! π
